What is Digital Data Services? Digital Data Services is Fiji's leading Wide Area Networking (WAN) service provider. We provide network solutions that improve inter-office communications for businesses with geographically isolated premises. This includes inter-office telephony. We are associated with the biggest and most reliable brands in the communications networking industry. And with our level of technical expertise, experience and support, coupled with the latest in networking technology, we are here to help transform your business into the next millennium. How are our services used? Our services are typically used for transferring data and voice between offices nationally and internationally. Some of the existing applications include: Linking of Computer Local Area Networks (LAN) interconnection. Linking of geographically separate PBX telephone systems. Corporate internet/intranet access. Video conferencing and multimedia. High-speed graphic transfer. Bank transaction links - electronic money transfer. Fire, security and alarm transmissions. Radio broadcasting, TV signal transmission.
Features and Benefits What connections can you choose from? If your business has multiple offices that need to be connected to a common database and/or computer applications, or phone systems, you can opt for a suitable connection to meet your needs. A dedicated link is a permanent connection between two sites. This is a reliable; secure option for businesses that need connection 24 hours a day. What are the service options avaiable? Dedicated Circuits This platform offers you a secure point-to-point connection with a fixed data transfer rate or capacity guaranteeing consistent transmission throughput at all times. Depending on the applications that would be executed on the network, an appropriate bandwidth will be selected. Dedicated circuit options that are offered are: Data Link (low speed connections, = 64kbps) Super Link (medium speed connections, 128 - 1472kbps) Mega Link (high speed connections, E1, E2, E3 High-order bit-rates)
Capacity (Speed) can be upgraded on request. FRAME RELAY Frame Relay is a high-speed packet switching service. It is used to connect geographically dispersed Local Area Networks. Frame Relay differs from ordinary Packet Switching in that the network performs no error correction. Instead, this error correction is undertaken by the terminal equipment in customers' premises. Frame Relay networks can be based on access and transmission at different speeds. Frame Relay is available at access speeds of between 64 kbit/s and 2Mbits. Access Charges Frame Relay access charges are dependent on the bandwidth. More than one virtual circuit can terminate on a Frame Relay access, however, the access bandwidth must be greater than or equal to the combined bandwidth of all virtual circuits associated with that access. Committed Information Rate Charges Frame Relay customers can select the transmission bandwidth they require. This bandwidth is known as the Committed Information Rate (CIR) and reflects the bandwidth that will normally be available between two endpoints. More than one virtual circuit can terminate at an access point but the total CIR bandwidth associated with an access point cannot be more than the access bandwidth at that point. The minimum CIR bandwidth is 8kbit/s.
